Redcar SG Bears v Peterborough Panthers – Thursday 8th June – 7:30pm
This Thursday sees the Peterborough Panthers visit the Media Prima Arena to take on the Redcar Bears, with a prompt 7:30pm start.
After the controversy of last week, the SG Petch Bears will be looking to return to winning ways against a recently strengthened Peterborough side. Indeed, Team GB international and 2007 British GP winner Chris Harris now leads the Panthers at number 1. Alongside Ulrich Ostergaard and Jack Holder, it is a strong heat leader trio and Bears manager Jitendra Duffill knows his side need to be on top of their game:
It almost feels like a local derby when we face Peterborough nowadays due to the strong Teesside connections that the Panthers have. Peterborough look a little different to the team that beat us here earlier this year and now have a very impressive number 1 in the shape of Chris Harris. Chris needs no introduction and is the track record holder here at the Media Prima Arena. We will need a strong performance from every one of our riders as Peterborough have strength in depth.
There is also a new look to the Bears riding order for this meeting, with Ellis Perks now moving into the main body of the team. Jonas B Andersen will now move to the number 2 position in the side, with Ben Barker moving to 3 to partner Perks. Coty Garcia now drops down to the reserve berths. Unfortunately, Danny Ayres will miss the meeting as he is still feeling the effects of his crash last week. He will be replaced by Liam Carr. Duffill feels the even with Perks moving into the main body of the team he will still have a strong reserve in Garcia:
You will notice that there is a big shake up in our riding order as Ellis has moved up into the main body of our team. He’s put almost 4 points on his average which is a massive achievement! A drop to reserve should help Coty and I feel that we still look very strong in that department. A full Redcar 1-7 is a match for any team in the league but we have struggled to field a full team through no fault of our own so far in 2017.
Redcar: Jason Garrity, Jonas B Andersen, Ben Barker, Ellis Perks, Charles Wright, Coty Garcia, Liam Carr
Peterborough: Chris Harris, Bradley Wilson-Dean, Paul Starke, Ulrich Ostergaard, Jack Holder, Simon Lambert, Tom Bacon.
