New to Speedway?

What is speedway?

Four riders, four laps, no brakes. Speedway is motorcycle racing on an oval shale track — bikes hit 70mph and slide sideways through the bends. A team meeting is 15 short races (heats), with points for finishing positions, and the team with the most points at the end wins.

How long does a meeting last?

Around two hours. Each heat lasts about a minute, so there’s racing every few minutes — it’s fast, loud and great for short attention spans!

What should I bring?

Dress for the weather — much of the stadium is open-air. Earplugs are a good idea for young children. There’s a large free car park, and food and drink are available inside.

Do I need to book in advance?

You can pay on the gate, but booking online guarantees your spot and speeds up entry. Under-16s go free with a paying adult, making speedway one of the cheapest family nights out in sport.
