Swales: Once in a generation opportunity!
REDCAR co-promoter Jamie Swales knows his “Agilia” Bears side have a “once in a generation opportunity” to win a remarkable team treble. Poole stand in the way of the Bears treble hopes with Redcar needing to turn over a six point deficit to reach the play-off final. Tomorrow’s huge ECCO Arena clash gets underway at 6pm with the match also being broadcast live on BSN.
The former rider turned co-promoter cannot stress enough the importance of a potential history making end to 2025. Swales said, “ This might be a once in a generation opportunity for us to potentially claim a treble, this is our best season ever as we speak now but we just need to get these trophies in the bag now.”
Swales, who has overseen Redcar’s superb 2025 campaign, believes his side have the septet to defeat the Pirates and make the Grand Final.
Swales said, “ The boys are really up for it and ready to go. To be honest, our lads were a bit disappointed when we changed the meeting to the KO Cup but we are now back to the original plan. However, we are without Jody Scott (out with concussion) so Jack Smith comes in and we are hoping he can replicate his performance from back in May when he hit paid eight.”
Swales, who took on the role of co-promoter in 2020, has been happy with the real team effort that has been a theme of Redcar’s performances in recent weeks.
Swales said, “ Over our last few matches it has been a real team effort, everyone has been scoring and we need to continue that and ensure we get as few last places as possible.”
The buoyant co-promoter knows the importance of not letting the Pirates extend their aggregate advantage in the early stages. Swales said, “ When we went to Oxford, we managed not to go behind on aggregate which was vital so we need to claw our way back early on this Sunday and maintain that to make the Grand Final.”
The former Workington Comet admits he is unsure how the absence of Richard Lawson will affect the Pirates, with Ipswich’s Adam Ellis replacing him.
Swales said, “ It certainly helps us that Adam has not rode at the ECCO Arena for a few years, he has the ability to put in a world class performance but we have all seen him have poor nights but we still have to go out and beat him on track.”
Poole bring in the aforementioned Adam Ellis to replace Richard Lawson who misses out on compassionate grounds. Meanwhile, the Bears continue to use Jake Allen to guest for the unwell Erik Riss whilst Jack Smith deputises for Jody Scott who is ruled out due to concussion.
Season ticket holders are reminded that their ticket is not covered for the remainder of the “Agilia” Bears season. However, season ticket holders do receive 10% off entry for the huge play-off clash.
Fans who cannot attend the fixture are reminded that the meeting will be live streamed by BSN @ watch.britishspeedway.co.uk
