Added to the line up for the Ecco Teesside Silver Helmet meeting are former Bears riders and fans favourites Aaron Summers, and Ty Proctor with Berwick rider and former Bear Jye Etheridge also joining the party.

The club are awaiting confirmation from several other riders including a previous winner of the prestigious Silver Helmet.
Due to the increased costs of running this meeting ONE pound will be added to the entrance fee for Adults only with a special edition programme also being produced.
Updates to follow when available. Also, the first 70 kids through the gate on the night will receive a free gift. 

New Alternative car parking spaces will be available for Friday’s meeting at the new motor cross circuit access to which will be via the gates in the centre of the existing speedway car park . This will be signposted within the car park and you are encouraged to allow an extra 5 minutes for your journey as a short walk is required.

The S.G.Petch Bears are pleased to announce that former Grand Prix star and multiple British Champion Scott Nicholls will be making his first ever appearance at Redcar in the Ecco Finishing sponsored Teesside Silver Helmet meeting on Thursday the 14th September.

It is hoped that another big name will be confirmed very shortly to add to the field in what should be a very competitive line up for the historic individual meeting.
Six Bears riders will also take part ( Danny Ayres will be riding for Cradley) and confirmation of other participants will follow shortly.

Kevin Keay will once again be appearing on BBC Tees Sport this evening, at around 18:50 to give the latest Bears news including some big news about the Ecco Finishing Silver Helmet.

Redcar SG Petch Bears will be looking to make it 4 home wins on the bounce, as they look for revenge against the Sheffield Tigers at the Media Prima Arena on Friday (7:30pm start).

The Bears were comfortable winners over Ipswich last Thursday, and co-promoter Jitendra Duffill is pleased to see his side begin to dominate at home:

I’m starting to see us stamp our authority on the Media Prima Arena for the first time in years. We asked Terry the Track to make a couple of changes to our racing surface before the Glasgow meeting a few weeks ago and it seems to be paying dividends. The racing has been superb too. The atmosphere around the place last week was electric and it was fantastic to be a part of that. We made a good Ipswich side look average. We managed to run them close at their place but didn’t have an answer to King and Schlein in the big heats. It has to give us confidence that we would have beaten them convincingly  over 2 legs if that was a play off fixture! 

This weeks meeting will be another tough one for the Bears, coming up against an in-form Sheffield side who won at the Media Prima Arena a couple of weeks ago. It is a side packed full of riders who go well around the Teesside circuit, but Duffill is confident his side can get the 3 points to keep the pressure on Edinburgh for the final play-off spot:

We made it 3 out of 3 home wins last week, all against teams above us in the league. This week we aim to make it 4 but I believe this will be the toughest one yet. Sheffield have been the stand out team of the season and they were very impressive here a few weeks ago.  Having said that, I have watched our performances become stronger by the week since then and it gives me confidence that we can take another 3 points and keep the pressure on Edinburgh for that 4th play off spot.

The Bears are currently at full strength for the meeting, however Tobias Busch is still a bit of a doubt after  his fall in Denmark last week. We will update you if this changes. Sheffield are using rider replacement for the injured Todd Kurtz, but are otherwise at full strength.

Following on from the headline news that the S.G.Petch Bears have a new promoter in Jitendra Duffill stand by for exciting news concerning the line up for the Ecco Finishing sponsored Teesside Silver Helmet meeting on Thursday 14 th September.

We have the first big name confirmed today, a rider who hasn’t ridden at Redcar in the past but has raced on tracks all over the world in the biggest meetings the sport has to offer and has numerous titles to his name.

The Bears can also confirm that they will be back at Newcastle for their last league fixture on Sunday 17 th September, the last day of the cut off for the play off qualification.
The Bears are at Glasgow the night before so a massive week of speedway action!

Redcar SG Petch Bears narrowly lost out to neighbours Newcastle 46-44 on Sunday night, giving them a league point in their battle for the top 4.

The Bears started off the meeting well, and took a 5-1 in Heat 2 with Danny Ayres and guest Nathan Greaves. The Bears held a narrow lead up until heat 6, with Ludvig Lindgren and Stuart Robson getting a 4-2 over Jason Garrity  and Greaves to tie up the scores. The scores remained tied until heat 10, where the excellent Steve Worrall and Robson combined for a 5-1 to give the Diamonds a 4 point lead.

  The Bears then turned the meeting around with two consecutive 5-1s to give themselves hope of a victory. Wright and Greaves got the maximum points in heat 12 and then Barker and Garrity combined for a vital win against Worrall and Robson. A Diamonds 4-2 in Heat 14 meant a last heat decider with the Bears 2 points ahead. The excellent Worrall and Lindgren came up against Garrity and Barker. The Diamonds pair made the gate, and whilst Garrity chased hard for a couple of laps the Diamonds held on to snatch the win. 

It was another solid effort by the whole team, with Garrity scoring 10+1 and Barker 8+2.

The Bears are next in action at home on Friday this week – against the in-form Sheffield Tigers.

Patched up Redcar SG Petch Bears put up a brave fight at Ipswich on Saturday, losing 51-39.

The Bears, without Ellis Perks and Tobias Busch, started the meeting off well. Guest Tero Aarnio and Charles Wright combined for a 5-1 in heat three to give the Bears a 2 point advantage. This lead remained until heat 6, where a good spell of heats for Ipswich gave them a six point lead.

The Bears continued to battle hard, but unfortunately had no answer to the Witches heat leaders in heats 13 and 15 which gave the home side the victory.

The Bears now travel to Newcastle this evening in what is a massive meeting. Nathan Greaves replaces Tobias Busch, with Ellis Perks back from international duty.

The Bears have managed to acquire the services of Edinburgh’s Max Clegg to Stan in for the injured Tobias Busch in tonight’s match at Ipswich. Jitendra Duffil has been rattling up the phone bill but come up with an ace in Clegg who won an individual meeting at Edinburgh last night.

We thank Max and Edinburgh for helping us out at such short notice said team manager Duffill, it’s been very difficult finding a rider with so many fixtures this evening but we are sure Max will do a great job. 

For tomorrow’s Tyne Tees derby the Bears bring in Nathan Greaves as cover for Busch.
