Tonight’s away meeting at Scunthorpe has been postponed due to a waterlogged track and poor forecast for the day. It will now take place on Sunday 8th September.

The Bears away meeting at Newcastle, postponed earlier this month has also now been arranged for Sunday 15th September.

Congratulations to Drew Kemp, who won the British U19 Championship at the Media Prima Arena with a perfect 15 point maximum on Thursday night in front of a healthy crowd.

The Kent and Sheffield rider was untouchable on the night of excellent racing at the MPA. He sealed his win with a heat 17 win over Kyle Bickley, Charlie Brookes and Leon Flint. HE actually hit the deck in the first running of the heat, after coming together with Kyle Bickley in a classic first bend bunching incident. He made no mistake in the re-run though, gating in front and looking comfortable for all four laps.

Heat 15 was arguably the race that decided the meeting, as three unbeaten riders came head-to-head in Kemp, Jason Edwards and Anders Rowe who were all superb on the night. Kemp came out on top in that heat, with Edwards finishing second and Rowe third. That was the order the riders finished at the end of the night, with both Edwards and Rowe winning their other four rides. Kyle Bickley finished fourth with 11 points, whilst the impressive Leon Flint and Connor Bailey finished joint fifth with 10.

Whilst congratulations go to the top three, congratulations must also go to all 18 riders who put on a superb show. The future of British Speedway is bright based on this showing!

This Thursday sees Redcar Speedway proudly hosting the British Under 19 Final (7:30pm start).

It promises to be a cracking meeting as the cream of British Youth travel up to Redcar looking to win the National Championship. Promoter Jitendra Duffill is excited to be holding the meeting:

“On Thursday we host the British Under 19 Final and I’m really excited to be given the opportunity to stage such a prestigious event. Neil Vatcher told me that he feels this years line up is the best for years and I have to agree with him. There are some very exciting youngsters coming up through the ranks and it should be a cracking meeting. I hope that all of you will come along and offer the youngster’s and Redcar Speedway your continued support. If we want to attract major events to Redcar in the future, we all need to show the BSPA and SCB that we will support them and can put on a great show.”

There are a number of talented youngsters on show, many of whom are no strangers to the Media Prima Arena. Drew Kemp will start as one of the favourites after his excellent performance in the European U19 final last weekend, along with Jason Edwards who impressed on his visit with Eastbourne a couple of weeks ago. Kyle Bickley spent a couple of seasons as Redcar mascot and rode for the Redcar Cubs in the Northern Junior League , so certainly knows his way around the Teesside track as well. There is added home interest in the form of Elliot Kelly. The Teesside lad, who represents Mildenhall in the National League, has been promoted into the field after the withdrawal of Chad Wirtzfeld and will be keen to make his mark!

In one other change to the previously published lineup, Corban Pavitt replaces Alex Spooner.

Admission has been cut for this meeting, with prices at £14 for Adults and £11 for concessions. All Under 16s go free with a paying adult. And don’t forget, if you have an admissions ticket from the Sheffield meeting on Tuesday you will receive and extra £2 discount. For the the third home meeting on the trot, Redcar Agilia Bears ran out 53-37 winners, this time dispatching the Tigers back to Sheffield.

The Bears started the meeting off in the best possible way, with Erik Riss and Kasper Andersen – against his former club – teaming up for a 5-1 in Heat One. Two 4-2’s in the next 5 heats saw the Bears extend their advantage to eight and from that point on the points looked set to go to the hosts.

Heat 9 saw probably the best race of the night with first Jordan Stewart, and then Michael Palm Toft, getting their way past Kyle Howarth for another big Bears 5-1. Sheffield battle hard throughout the night however, with Danny King, Howarth and Todd Kurtz in particular impressing for the visitors.

They were no match for the Bears on the night however. Michael Palm Toft continued his good run of form with 13+1, with Charles Wright scoring 11. It was another solid team effort however, with Tom Woolley having his best night as a Bear with 3+3.

Don’t forget there is more action at the Media Prima Arena on Thursday as we play host to the British Under 19 Championship.

Redcar Agilia Bears take on Sheffield Tigers at the Media Prima Arena on the unusual night of Tuesday this week (7:30pm start).

The Bears are on red hot form at the moment, after dispatching Newcastle 53-37 last Friday night. Charles Wright scored a 12 point maximum that night, with Erik Riss also unbeaten by an opponent on his way to 14+1. Bears promoter Jitendra Duffill is understandably delighted with his sides current form:

“The Bears are really starting to dominate at home and I haven’t seen us do that for a long time. I honestly feel that this is the strongest Redcar line up that we have ever had and the play offs are looking to be well within our reach now. Having said that, we cannot afford to slip up at home and I would like us to keep pushing the teams above us and try to move further up the table. That could be advantageous to us later in the year.”

The Bears are again at full strength for what could be another tricky tie against Sheffield. They are led by former British Champion Danny King, ably backed up by Kyle Howarth. Justin Sedgman, a new addition for the Tigers and Todd Kurtz for a potentially powerful engine room with exciting youngster Drew Kemp riding at number 2. Kemp, who will also be at the MPA on Thursday in the British U19 Final, has just returned from the continent where he impressed in the European Under 19 Final. They also possess an exciting pairing at reserve in Aussie pair Zaine Kennedy and Josh MacDonald.

When Redcar host the British Under 19 Final on Thursday, fans will again be given a chance to sample the action from the SG Petch Platinum Suite on the start/finish line.

For an extra £10, fans will get use of the Lounge, pie and pea supper, free programme, a hot drink, pre meeting pits visit plus 2 heats on the centre green. As well as that, fans will also become a riders sponsor for the night. All rider sponsors will get the opportunity to present their rider with their appearance medal on the rider pre meeting parade. Plus if their riders are in the first 3 they will get the chance to present them with their trophies at the end. The riders will be allocated in the order that people contact us in order to make it fair.

Redcar Bears promoter Jitendra Duffill admits he was delighted with his sides performance last night as they defeated Newcastle Diamonds 53-37.

“I expected a very tough test last night as Newcastle are a decent outfit and have riders who go well at the MPA, so I was delighted to see us beat them comfortably. The score was a true reflection of how good we were last night and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Redcar team as good as this one. It’s a pretty exciting time for everyone at Redcar and this team just keeps impressing me week after week.”

In front of another decent crowd, Redcar Agilia Bears continued their good recent form with a dominant 53-37 win over Newcastle at the Media Prima Arena.

Despite the weather forecasts predicting rain for most of the day, the Media Prima Arena managed to avoid the worst of it and the track was in excellent shape. It was however the Diamonds who started slightly better. After a shared heat 1 won by Erik Riss, the Diamonds took a slender advantage with a 4-2 in heat 2, Max Clegg winning with Danny Phillips getting third place.

The Bears soon clicked into gear however, and three 5-1s and a 4-2 in the next four heats saw the hosts pull out a 12 point lead which they never really looked like losing. Despite the weather and the scoreline, there was some superb racing however. Heat 7 saw Wright stalk Bjerre for all four laps before swooping around the outside on the last bend. Palm Toft repeated the trick against Bjerre in heat 12, passing him up the inside coming off the last bend.

Heat 13 saw the Bears seal the victory. Wright completely missed the start, but flew round all three riders – including teammate Riss – on the second bend to romp home for the victory and record a 12 point maximum from his four rides. With a win in heat 15, Erik Riss also completed a paid maximum with 14+1. Palm Toft chipped in with another 10+1 whilst Stewart scored an excellent 9+1 which included one retirement.

For the Diamonds, ex-Bear Thomas Jorgensen top scored with 10, with Max Clegg scoring 6+2. The Bears are next in action on Sunday away at Newcastle, before facing Sheffield at the Media Prima Arena on Tuesday.
