The details and lineup for this seasons Julie Lewis Memorial meeting have now been announced. And, if you purchase your tickets online using the promo code JULIE2, you will £2 off admission plus a free programme!

The first half of the meeting will consist of a 12 rider, 12 heat individual meeting. The top 5 from this will then join a heatleader and go onto the 11 heat, 5 team pairs meeting. This is a new format and speedway and we think it is sure to be an exciting evening at the Media Prima Arena this Friday.

The lineup for the individual is as follows: Tom Bacon, Jack Smith, Nathan Greaves, Jedd List, Josh Mcdonald, Jacob Bukhave, Kyle Newman, Joe Lawlor, David Wallinger, Danny Phillips, Danny Ayres and Coty Garcia.

They will then be joined in the Pairs meeting by Charles Wright, Michael Palm Toft, Aaron Summers, Ben Barker and Ulrich Ostergaard. Please see posters below for full details for the format of the meeting.

Congratulations to Charles Wright, who has been selected to take his place in the GP Qualifier in Germany on the 10th June.

Wright has been in superb form this season for both the Bears and Peterborough, and will be one of the favourites for the British Semi Final at Redcar on 31st May.

Redcar Speedway will be hosting a Speedway Race Night at the Media Prima Arena tonight, starting 7.30pm. Back due to popular demand, everybody in attendance will get to watch several heats of thrilling speedway spanning several decades and have the chance to walk away with a cash prize.

Come along and have some fun! We will also be revealing the lineup and format for the Julie Lewis Memorial meeting, a format new to British Speedway.

A superb performance from the Redcar Agilia Bears saw them fall just short at Somerset on Wednesday night, losing 46-44. The Bears though were victorious on aggregate, comfortably defending their 17 point lead from the first leg to win 97-82.

Against a strong Somerset side, it was a great all round team performance from the Bears. A heat one 4-2, with Tom Bacon leading the way, was a great way to start the meeting and from that point on the Bears stuck with the Rebels all the way. Indeed, the Bears lead for large parts of the meeting and may well be disappointed to not win outright on the night.

Charles Wright again led the way on the night with 11 points against his former club, with Ben Barker also scoring an excellent 9+1. It was an all round performance though, with Nathan Greaves getting two big heat wins and Tom Bacon having a solid night with 6+1. The evergreen Chris Harris top scored for the home side with 14. The Bears will now go on to face the winner of the Glasgow v Sheffield tie in the next round!

Redcar Agilia Bears will be looking to make it through to the next round of the KO Cup tonight, as they travel to Somerset defending a 17 point lead from the first leg (7:30pm start).

The Bears will go into the meeting full of confidence after the 53-36 win in the first leg, but know they will be in for a tough meeting against a strong Somerset side. Both sides remain at full strength, with Charles Wright returning to his former track looking to get one over on his former employers. Michael Palm Toft has returned to form in recent weeks and will be looking to keep that run going, whilst skipper Ben Barker has plenty of experience around the Oak Tree Arena track.

The Rebels will again be led by British Finalists Rory Schlein and Chris Harris, whilst Nico Covatti is something of a track expert. It is sure to be an exciting meeting, safe journey to any Bears fans making the trip!

On Friday 24th May, Redcar Agilia Bears host the annual running of the Julie Lewis Memorial meeting at the Media Prima Arena. This meeting will consist of two parts – a 12 heat individual meeting with 12 riders, where the top 5 then progress into a 11 heat 5 team pairs tournament.

This meeting has been kindly sponsored by former team sponsors Ecco Finishing Supplies, and we thank them as always for their support. There are a number of further sponsorship opportunities available for this meeting:

1) Each rider can be sponsored (17) for £20. For this, you will get your names in the programme as a rider sponsor and spend the evening in the SG Petch Platinum Suite. You will receive a full buffet and hot drink plus a drink from the bar a programme & a centre green visit etc.

2) Each team will be sponsored for £100 + VAT. Team will be named after their sponsor e.g. Team Agilia (5 available). The Team sponsor will get to spend the night in The Bruce Forrester lounge. With full buffet plus hot drinks, 2 bar drinks, programme, centre green visit etc.

3) Team manager experience for £150. Managers will work in the pits alongside a licensed team manager and will get to pick their teams 2nd member and reserve. You will be able to make changes during the pairs meeting and when to use their reserve. You will also receive a signed Bears race jacket, a DVD of the meeting and have a photo taken with their team by Bears official track photographer Colin Poole (Framed photo to be presented at a later date) ( 5 available).

The lineup for the British Semi Final – taking place at Redcar on Friday 31st May – has been announced, and there is plenty of interest for the home fans as 3 Bears will take their place in the lineup.

The top 6 riders on the night will join the 10 seeded riders in the Final, and it is sure to be an exciting night at the Media Prima Arena. And Bears fans will be hoping that their 3 representatives – Charles Wright, Ben Barker and Tom Bacon – can do the Bears proud! It is an exciting lineup though, and any of the 16 riders can come out on top! Richie and Steve Worrall have both had excellent meetings here, whilst Lewis Kerr was excellent in Ben Barkers testimonial to start the season.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the 31st!

Redcar Agilia Bears gave themselves a fighting chance to progress in the KO Cup, with a 53-36 victory over Somerset at the Media Prima Arena on Friday night.

After a couple of days of rain, the track stuff did a superb job on the track which was in its usual superb condition. The Rebels started well, with a 5-1 in heat one as Rory Schlein and Todd Kurtz gated well and never looked back. It was to be one of only 2 Somerset heat advantages however as the Bears soon took control. For the second week running, heat two saw a 5-1 for the Bears with Nathan Greaves and Jack Smith getting the points for the home side. The Bears continued that form in heat 3, with captain Ben Barker and Jordan Stewart heading home the Rebels pair.

The Bears never really looked back from that point. Charles Wright was his usual reliable self, whilst young Aussie Jordan Stewart continued his superb start to the season with a heat 15 and sponsors rider of the night. Palm Toft had two excellent wins before a nasty fall in heat 13, whilst Jack Smith had his best night as a Bear with a excellent 10+3. For the Rebels, Chris Harris was his usual exciting self with some superb passes. Rory Schlein battled hard and Todd Kurtz notched two heat wins.

The result leaves the tie nicely in the balance, with the Bears defending a 17 point lead when they head to Somerset on Wednesday.

Redcar Agilia Bears face Somerset in what is now the first leg of the KO Cup on Friday night at the Media Prima Arena on Friday night (7:30pm start).

The Bears will go into the meeting full of confidence after last week’s excellent 52-38 win over Scunthorpe. It was a great all round effort from the Bears, and reflecting on that meeting co-promoter and team manager Jade Mudgway was pleased with the effort of his riders:

“There are not many riders who can come and score maximums here because of the fair nature of the track, so the fact that Charles managed it shows the brilliant form that he is in.  The second mention has to go to Michael Palm Toft, who was back to the best we know that he is.  He had a brilliant ride Heat 13, and then in Heat 15 he managed to stay on the bike after it tried to kick him off the back on the home straight, but still won the race!”

Mudgway also had words of praise for Jordan Stewart and the reserves Nathan Greaves and Jack Smith. Stewart has continued his promising start to his Redcar career from last season, whilst Greaves and Smith both give absolutely everything in every race.

“I’m also really impressed with Jordy Stewart, who has upped his game this year and will soon be a big contender for a heat leader spot.  Last to mention but definitely not least are our reserves, whose skills in their Heat 2 5-1 were clear to see.  They both have bags of potential and they give everything they have to give every time.”

The Bears welcome a strong looking Somerset side to Teesside this week, who include in their ranks British Star Chris Harris. Harris is the track record holder at the Media Prima Arena, and can always be relied upon to provide thrilling racing. And who can forget his British GP win in Cardiff? Rory Schlein comes into the Somerset side this year and rides at number 1, whilst Valentin Grobauer has started his maiden season in the UK well. The Bears are again at full strength. It should be another superb night’s racing – we hope to see as many of you at the Media Prima again as possible!
