Redcar SG Petch Bears quest for a play off place suffered a blow as the lost 52-40 to the Peterborough Panthers at the Media Prima Arena on Thursday night.

With the track being damp after a pre-meeting downpour, gating was always going to be at a premium and it was the Panthers who had their gating gloves on all night. The Bears only registered 4 heat wins all evening on what was a disappointing night for the play off chasing team. To make matters worse, a heat 7 crash between Charles Wright and Danny Ayres left both riders injured and having to withdraw from the meeting. It was a nasty looking incident, in which Wright was briefly left unconscious and Ayres suffering what appeared to be an arm injury. Our best wishes go to both riders for a speedy recovery.

Jonas B Andersen continued his good form for the Bears, with a good 12+3 score, with Ben Barker getting 2 heat wins on his way to 9 points and Ellis Perks having another good night on his way to 7 points. For Peterborough, stand in captain Paul Starke top scored with 14 points, with excellent support from the whole team including 11 from Jack Holder and 10+3 from guest Richie Worrall.

The Bears are next in action at home against Scunthorpe next Thursday.

Redcar SG Petch Bears promoter Kevin Keay will again appear on BBC Tees Sport tonight at around 6:45pm. He will be looking ahead to tomorrows exciting clash against Peterborough, as well as discussing the latest Bears team news.

This Thursday sees the Redcar SG Petch Bears face the Peterborough Panthers at the Media Prima Arena in Championship action, with a 7:30pm start.

The Bears will be looking to keep their good run of form going, which sees them sitting in 4th place in the table at the moment. A win would see them leapfrog Sheffield into 3rd and boost hopes of a play off place at the end of the season. 

Once again the Bears will be without broken scaphoid victim Jason Garrity. Rye House man Stuart Robson will come in to guest for him after impressing Bears promoter Kevin Keay while guesting against Scunthorpe on Sunday:

Seeing the way Stuart fitted in with the team on Sunday both on and off the track it made sense to bring him in again, he’s very good at passing on his experience to the other lads and his team riding ability is second to none.

Peterborough will also be without their number one Chris Harris for this meeting. Bomber, as he is affectionately known, is representing Team Gb in the World Cup after the sides brilliant win in Event 1 on Saturday. Glasgows Richie Worrall will replace him.
The Panthers have a team of riders who go well round the Media Prima Arena, with Ulrich Ostergaard performing well as a guest a couple of weeks ago and Jack Holder is in excellent form and perhaps unlucky not to be named in the Australia side for the world Cup. 

Its sure to be a close and exciting meeting, not to be missed!

Stuart Robson will once again appear on the no.1 race jacket for the S.G.Petch Bears this Thursday against the Panthers from Peterborough.
The Rye House senior statesman showed what a class act he still is at Scunthorpe scoring paid ten from his four rides for the Bears and was quickly booked to take the jacket again for Thursday.

Redcar SG Petch Bears continued their fine run of form with a 50-39 win over the Scunthorpe Scorpions on Sunday, giving the Bears the full 4 league points on offer.

It was another solid team performance, with 6 of the 7 Bears recording at least a paid win. Ben Barker top scored for the Bears with 11+2, with Ellis Perks scoring an excellent 9+1 from the number 4 position. The Bears actually started the meeting off fairly slowly, and found themselves four points behind after three heats to the fast starting Scorpions. A 5-1 in heat 4 levelled the scores, but it was not until three 5-1s in four heats from heats 7 to 10 that the Bears hit the front.

It was a tough night for the Scorpions, with Tero Aarnio withdrawing from the meeting after a crash with Charles Wright in heat 6. Our best wishes go to Tero for a speedy recovery. 

The win means the Bears tighten their grip on a top four place in a league, and was the third full 4 point haul away from home this season. We are next in action on Thursday, at home against Peterborough in Championship action with a 7:30pm start.

Redcar Speedway are trying something different with a singer/ comedian making an appearance in the Bears Bar on Wednesday 9th August.
It will be strictly over 18’s only at £5 per ticket on sale from the bar.

Redcar SG Petch Bears travel to Scunthorpe this afternoon to take on the Scorpions in Championship action, with a 5:30pm start.

The Bears won at the Eddie Wright Raceway 46-44 earlier in the season, and will be hoping for a repeat performance today! With Jason Garrity still out injured, ex Bear Stuart Robson comes in as a guest but otherwise both teams are at full strength, with Josh Bailey returning for Scunthorpe at the number 7 position.

After the main meeting, there is also the chance to see some of Britains top youngsters as a round of the British Youth Championship will be held.
