We can now confirm the lineup for tonights Teesside Silver Helmet. This lineup has changed slightly due to some riders no longer being in the country or finished for the season, but is a competitive lineup with a number of riders who will be fighting for the victory.

Aussie star Sam Masters will be lolling to retain the title he won last season, whilst the likes of Ulrich Ostergaard, Ben Barker, Richard Lawson and Lewis Kerr will be keen to take that away from him.

Tapes are up at 7:30pm tonight, with 20 heats plus a semi final and final. Promises to be a great meeting and a great way to end what has been a historic season.

Redcar Agilia Bears are the 2019 KO Cup Winners! Has a nice ring to it..

On a historic night for the club, the Bears lost the meeting 47-43 but won on aggregate 94-86 after a great battling performance from the Newcastle Diamonds who pushed the Bears all the way. Indeed, it was the Diamonds who started the meeting well with a 5-1 in the first heat. Steve Worrall and guest James Sarjeant got out well from the tapes, and with Charles Wright looking to make a move round the outside he made a mistake and was forced to the back.

The Bears got themselves into the meeting with a 3-3 in heat 2, with Tom Woolley holding off a hard charging Danny Phillips for a vital point. Then a 5-1 from Jordan Stewart and Ben Barker got the Bears back level after 3 heats. Two consecutive 4-2s from the Bears saw them then increase their lead to 4 on the night, and 16 in total.

The battling Diamonds however then started to take control of the meeting however with a 4-2 and 5-1 advantages which saw them level the aggregate scores after 12 heats. That run did see a couple of decisions from the referee which the Redcar fans in attendance did not agree with. First was heat 7, when Danny Phillips locked up coming out of bend 4 and was then collected by Ben Barker. The referee adjudged Barker to be the cause of the stoppage, much to the Cornishman’s anger. Heat 12 also had the Bears fans up in arms, with Wright and Ostegaard clashing in a tight first bend. Ostegaard came down and the referee again adjudged the Bears to be at fault.

The Bears dug deep however, and heat 13 saw a 5-1 for the visitors to steady the nerves somewhat. Riss gated and led from the front, however Wright brilliantly passed both Diamonds to join him in second. Then came a crucial heat 14. Jordan Stewart gated and led superbly from the front, under immense pressure from Matthew Wethers to send the Bears fans wild as they could sense the trophy was almost won. The Diamonds needed a 5-1 in the last heat to level the scores on aggregate, but once Erik Riss gated and was soon joined by Skipper Wright that never looked likely. They were roared home by the huge travelling support to give the Bears the KO Cup Trophy!

Huge congratulations to the team and promotion tonight, and a massive, massive thank you to all the Bears fans for their support throughout the season and tonight!

Many thanks to all of you who attended the Redcar Agilia Bears end of season party at Teesside University last night.

A superb night was had by all in a packed room. And many congratulations to Charles Wright, who took home the Agilia Bears Rider of the Year award voted for by the fans.

Charles, and the rest of the Bears, will be hoping they have another trophy to celebrate tonight as they travel to Newcastle in the KO Cup Final second leg. Good luck to the Bears!

Redcar Agilia Bears travel up the A19 on Sunday to face Newcastle in the second leg of the KO Cup Final, hoping it is third time lucky to get the meeting on (6:30pm start).

It is another in a series of massive meetings in October for the Bears, as they look to secure their first trophy since speedway returned to Teesside in 2006.

The Bears will travel up with a 12 point lead from the first leg, after beating Newcastle 51-39 at the Media Prima Arena.

With the meeting being re-arranged twice, both sides will be very keen to get this meeting on. Bears choice of guest for last weeks postponement, Lewis Kerr, is not available. Former Bears skipper and twice Bear of the year Ben Barker will instead guest in his place.

There is also one change for Newcastle, Lasse Bjerre will miss the meeting due to illness, with James Sarjeant coming in to replace him. The Diamonds also run rider replacement in place of the injured Thomas Jorgensen.

It promises to be an exciting night, and a night where the Bears could lift the trophy! We hope to see as many of you make the trip up to Newcastle as possible and recreate the superb atmosphere seen at Leicester in the Play Off Semi Final.

The Teesside Silver Helmet has been rearranged for Monday 28^th October at 7.30pm. Many of you will be aware that this date is already reserved for the restaging of the KO Cup Final, if it were to be cancelled on Sunday due to poor weather. The Redcar promotion have been working tirelessly all day, seeking rider, staff and sponsor availability and it has become clear that it is not possible to run any other day.

Promoter Jitendra Duffill explained, “The deadline for all fixtures this year is the 31^st October, so the Silver Helmet has to take place before then. I’ve spend hours today trying to reschedule and only Monday is feasible due to unavailability of riders, staff or sponsors on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. I don’t want to cancel what is an important meeting for us, so I’d rather take the risk of running on Monday. Newcastle are aware of our situation and we understand that we will have to cancel the Silver Helmet if we need to be in Newcastle on Monday night. That situation is preferable to simply giving up on and cancelling this event ”

An updated line up will be posted as soon as it has been finalised.

Due to the poor weather forecast for this afternoon and this evening, we have taken the decision to postpone tonight’s Silver Helmet meeting.

It is possible we may try to re stage this meeting, please keep an eye on this website and Social Media for any further details.

The lineup has now been announced for the 2019 Teesside Silver Helmet, taking place on Friday 25th October (7:30pm start).

Last years winner Sam Masters will be back to try and defend his title, but will have his work cut out in a strong lineup which includes all 6 Bears. Jake Allen, who has guested for the Bears on a number of occasions this year will fancy his chances, whilst the likes of Steve Worrall, Ben Barker, Richard Lawson, Lewis Kerr, Ricky Wells and Ulrich Ostergaard all know the quickest way around the Media Prima Arena.

Bears asset, and popular Dane, Jacob Bukhave takes his place alongside an interesting name in fellow Dane Matias Nielsen.

The meeting will consist of 22 heats, with each rider having 5 programmed rides. The top two riders will go straight to the final, with riders 3-6 going into a semi final. It certainly promises to be a superb end to the season at the Media Prima Arena.
