A reminder that the S.G.Petch Bears are away at Newcastle tonight, in the second part of a double header which starts at 4pm.

The Bears ‘nearly end of season awards evening ‘ takes place at Jury’s Inn on Saturday evening with six of the Bears riders in attendance . With almost 150 people in attendance it promises to be an entertaining evening with the ‘Bear of the Year ‘ award up for grabs.
The Redcar club would like to wish two Redcar ‘ Ecco Finishing ‘ Cubs best of luck at the British 125 Youth Speedway Championship meeting at Belle Vue, Manchester. Both Elliot Kelly and Alex Goldsborough have been invited along to the final in a very competitive field and it shows how far the two boys have progressed in such a short period of time.

At last some good news for the Redcar a Bears as club volunteers and fund raisers Janice Jackson and Claire James were awarded the Evening Gazette’s Unsung Sporting Hero award at a presentation evening in Middlesborough last night.
The club are very proud of the ladies who put a lot of time and effort into helping the club, it’s riders and various charities throughout the year and are very pleased the ladies have been recognised with such a prestigious award.
Congratulations and well deserved ladies.
Tonights scheduled meeting away at Sheffield has been postponed due to the weather.
It has been re arranged for Monday 23rd October.
The S.G. Petch Bears head to league winners Sheffield Tigers tonight with their patched up side which now includes Stoke youngster Ryan Terry-Daley . Ryan who has answered a desperate plea by Redcar for an available rider after asking over 30 different riders to help out the injury ravaged side after Ben Morley pulled out of the booking for work reasons.
“We would like to put on record our thanks to Ryan who has answered the call at such short notice and will be interested to see how he fares tonight as he puts himself in the shop window for next season. I cannot believe how many phone calls both Jitendra and myself have made in the last 24 hours trying to find a guest and let’s just hope we can now get this match on ” said promoter Kevin Keay.
It would appear the bad luck surrounding the Redcar Bears side is becoming infectious as Ben Duffill works overtime in trying to put together a competitive side to visit Sheffield this Thursday.
The previously booked Guest Joe Lawlor has now reported injured and Aaron Summers has now a rearranged Glasgow fixture meaning even more frantic searching for riders.

The Promotion at Redcar Speedway would like to apologise in advance to fans of Redcar, Sheffield and Newcastle for the makeup of the Bears team’s that will take to the track for their last two league fixtures.
Currently the Bears have an injury crisis with FIVE Bears riders on the injured list, Ben Barker, Charles Wright, Jason Garrity, Danny Ayres and latest victim Tobias Busch who suffered an horrendous neck wound caused by the starting gate tapes whilst riding in Germany at the weekend.
Promoter Kevin Keay said ” I am hugely disappointed in the way we are finishing the season but what can we do when five of our side are out injured? Our fixtures were scheduled to be over with by the play off dates in early October hence Ellis having planned to return to Australia and Jonas booking a holiday and I understand them making these arrangements. We haven’t ridden for nearly 5 weeks and the uncertainty of dates for these last two fixtures has been a nightmare. Now Sheffield have requested we attend this Thursday which means we will have to go without Jonas who planned to return for both fixtures originally planned for Sunday and Monday. I had appealed to allow us to track Jacob Bukhave, a Bears asset, but this has been turned down so we will have to go to Sheffield with 6 ‘guests’ and rider replacement which is extremely regrettable but out of our hands. I do understand fans frustration at the make up of our side and I apologise to all the fans concerned but our hands are being forced on this occasion”.
Former Bears Aaron Summers and Josh Auty will once again don a Bears race jacket with R/R for Wright. With two National League riders having to be used local lad Dave Wallinger will feature as will Joe Lawlor who impressed at Redcar recently and is possibly one for the future.

It is now confirmed that Ben Barker has withdrawn from the Championship Riders Final due to the injuries he received last night.
Having been released from the Sheffield hospital with a severe concussion , facial and back injuries he has been given the standard suspension for a concussion injury and is returning to Cornwall for further treatment .
The S.G.Petch Bears are unable to field a rider at this meeting with the four riders now injured and three out of the country on other riding commitments.
Ben Barker was injured whilst guesting for Ipswich at Sheffield last night and was taken to hospital with face and back injuries. The club awaits an update on the severity of his injuries and wishes him a speedy recovery.
The Bears fixture at Newcastle on the 22nd October will start at 4pm with the Workington fixture taking place before the Bears match.
